Introduction to Iconography
Debra Korluka
Internationally renowned iconographer Debra Korluka will introduce technique, theology, and the spirituality of iconography in this 2-day workshop. Participants will learn how to paint the icon of the Holy Face. Holy icons are painted in a way that is intended to be timeless, meant to recur in the painting of icons across many generations or countries and always remain constant, consistent, and prescribed by canon rule. It is for this reason that icons convey an abstract art that is purely idealistic and not meant to be realistic. Previous artistic experience is not at all necessary. Materials are included.
