The Holy Mandylion/Napkin/Face or Icon-Not-Made-By-Human-Hands imprints upon us that Christ our God, the eternal Word of the Father, really took flesh for our salvation. By approaching and offering veneration with love and humility before any icon of Christ, then can we receive grace and healing from Him just as did the woman with the issue of blood and King Abgar. Gazing on Christ’s sacred image, truly can we remember His words from the Gospel of Luke (used on the feast day of the Holy Face):
“Blessed are the eyes which see what you see! For tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see, and did not see it, and hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”(Luke 10:23-24)
